Whenever foraging for plants or herbs, whether in the wild or your own backyard, be absolutely certain of their identity before using or consuming or handling them. Many plants that resemble benign species, like foxglove (Digitalis purpurea), are deadly toxic when consumed. Other plant species can cause contact dermatitis when handled. Observe species in all phases of their life cycles before attempting to forage them, and always harvest plants sustainably. When harvesting plants that you have planted in your own yard, be extra certain of their identity.
When practicing Qigong or Yoga, attend to your body’s signals and do not continue motions or exercises that create physical discomfort (particularly in a joint). Consult your doctor before starting a new fitness routine.
